According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 5.0 magnitude quake rattled close to Hirara around midday Monday.

A tremor shook the area at 04:56 UTC (12:56 local time). The earthquake’s epicenter was approximately 64 km northwest of Hirara and occurred at a depth of 10 km.
