Update: 5.0 magnitude earthquake shakes near Lata, Solomon Islands on July 30

A 5.0 magnitude quake was registered close to Lata Wednesday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor, which jolted the area at 18:20 UTC (05:20 local time), was centered roughly 100 km southeast of Lata. It occurred at a depth of 68 km.
