Update: Earthquake shakes region close to Vilyuchinsk, Russia on Aug. 4 – 5.0 magnitude reported

A 5.0 magnitude quake was detected near Vilyuchinsk Monday afternoon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

A tremor struck the area at 03:36 UTC (14:36 local time). The earthquake’s epicenter was located approximately 144 km southeast of Vilyuchinsk and occurred at a depth of 10 km.
