A 5.0 magnitude quake was detected close to South Sandwich Islands region Saturday night, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor, which shook the area at 01:16 UTC (23:16 local time), was centered of South Sandwich Islands region. It occurred at a depth of 10 km.
