Update: 5.3 magnitude earthquake strikes close to Sarangani, Philippines on Feb. 28

SARANGANI, SOCCSKSARGEN — According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 5.3 magnitude quake occurred close to Sarangani on Saturday morning.

The USGS reported a tremor in the region at 17:22 UTC (01:22 local time). The epicenter was roughly 67 km southeast of Sarangani, at a depth of 101 km. Seismologists first reported it as a 5.4 event, but later downgraded it to 5.3.
