Update: 5.1 magnitude earthquake recorded near Macquarie Island region on July 29

Tuesday morning, a 5.1 magnitude quake was detected near Macquarie Island region, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

A tremor shook the area at 23:56 UTC (10:56 local time). The earthquake’s epicenter was located of Macquarie Island region and occurred at a depth of 10 km. The magnitude was originally reported as 5.2 but later downgraded to 5.1.
