Earthquake jolts area near Huayucachi, Peru: 5.3 magnitude reported on Aug. 6

HUANCAYO, Junin — A 5.3 magnitude quake occurred near Huayucachi around midday Thursday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

A tremor hit the region at 18:57 UTC (13:57 local time). The earthquake’s epicenter was about 7 km south-southwest of Huayucachi and occurred at a depth of 10 km.
