Update: 5.6 magnitude earthquake shakes near Bam, Iran on Aug. 5

DALGAN, Sistan and Baluchestan Province — A 5.6 magnitude quake was registered close to Bam Tuesday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor hit the area at 05:06 UTC (08:36 local time). It occurred at a depth of 92 km with the epicenter situated roughly 133 km south-southeast of Bam. Seismologists first reported it as a 5.4 event, but later upgraded it to 5.6.
