Update: Seismic activity on Oct. 10 – 5.1 magnitude earthquake close to Kavieng, Papua New Guinea registered

The U.S. Geological Survey reported that a 5.1 magnitude quake occurred near Kavieng Friday afternoon.

At 05:46 UTC (15:46 local time), the region was shaken by a tremor. The earthquake struck at a depth of 10 km, with its epicenter roughly 215 km west-southwest of Kavieng.
