According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 5.2 magnitude quake hit close to San Ignacio at midday on Friday.

The tremor jolted at 05:47 UTC (13:47 local time), with its epicenter located approximately 77 km east-southeast of San Ignacio and a depth of 59 km. Seismologists first reported it as a 5.3 event, but later downgraded it to 5.2.
