Update: Aug. 6 – 5.0 magnitude earthquake recorded near Amagi, Japan

OSHIMA DISTRICT, Kagoshima — A 5.0 magnitude quake was reported close to Amagi Wednesday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

At 00:56 UTC (09:56 local time), the region was rattled by a tremor. The earthquake struck at a depth of 10 km, with its epicenter about 77 km west-northwest of Amagi.
