LYON COUNTY, NV — Thursday morning, a preliminary 5.9 magnitude quake was detected near Dayton, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor jolted at 4:06 p.m. (8:06 a.m. local time), with its epicenter located approximately 4 miles east of Dayton and a depth of 5 miles.
