A 5.7 magnitude quake shook close to Ternate at midday on Thursday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

A tremor hit the area at 03:17 UTC (12:17 local time). The earthquake’s epicenter was approximately 121 km west-northwest of Ternate and occurred at a depth of 35 km.
