On Wednesday at 2:05 p.m. the National Weather Service released an updated blowing dust advisory in effect until 10 p.m. The advisory is for Western El Paso County, Eastern/Central El Paso County and Northern Hudspeth Highlands/Hueco Mountains.

“Visibility between one quarter mile and one mile in blowing dust expected. West winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected,” describes the NWS. “The strongest wind gusts will favor areas along the east slopes of mountain ranges.”

“Hazardous driving conditions due to reduced visibility. Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result,” states the NWS. “Motorists should not drive into an area of blowing dust. Remember, Pull Aside, Stay Alive. Use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high profile vehicle. Secure outdoor objects.”
