A 5.1 magnitude quake occurred near Ruteng on Friday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor, which struck the region at 23:12 UTC (07:12 local time), was centered about 65 km north of Ruteng. It occurred at a depth of 10 km.

Two tremors nearby last week

In the past week, the area has experienced two tremors greater than magnitude 5.5, both centered near Labuan Bajo. The larger, a 5.9 magnitude event, was detected prior to this quake, while the other, at magnitude 5.5, jolted on Aug. 15.
