A 5.1 magnitude quake occurred near Ruteng on Friday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor shook the area at 23:12 UTC (07:12 local time). It occurred at a depth of 10 km with the epicenter approximately 49 km north of Ruteng.

Two tremors nearby last week

In the past week, the area has experienced two tremors greater than magnitude 5.5, both centered near Labuan Bajo. The larger, a 5.9 magnitude event, was detected prior to this quake, while the other, at magnitude 5.5, struck on Aug. 15.
