Earthquake measuring 5.0 jolts area near Ende, Indonesia on Aug. 14

A 5.0 magnitude quake occurred near Ende on Friday morning, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The tremor, which rattled the region at 23:17 UTC (07:17 local time), was centered about 65 km north-northwest of Ende. It occurred at a depth of 10 km.

Tremors past week

Last week, the area has experienced three tremors of magnitude 5.5 or above. The largest, measuring 7.7, occurred in the same region prior to this quake.
