Update: July 31 – 5.3 magnitude earthquake reported close to Masohi, Indonesia

A 5.3 magnitude quake jolted close to Masohi on Friday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The USGS reported a tremor in the region at 20:19 UTC (05:19 local time). The epicenter was about 140 km east-northeast of Masohi, at a depth of 10 km. Seismologists first reported it as a 5.2 event, but later upgraded it to 5.3.
