A 5.3 magnitude quake jolted close to Masohi on Friday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

At 20:19 UTC (05:19 local time), a tremor hit the region at a depth of 10 km, with its epicenter about 141 km east-northeast of Masohi. Seismologists first reported it as a 5.2 event, but later upgraded it to 5.3.
