SARANGANI, SOCCSKSARGEN — A 5.3 magnitude quake hit near Pangyan at midnight on Friday, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

A tremor shook the area at 16:12 UTC (00:12 local time). The earthquake’s epicenter was about 6 km east of Pangyan and occurred at a depth of 70 km.

So far, the agency has collected 5 online responses from people indicating they experienced weak to light shaking. The USGS DYFI report indicates that several residents in Buayan and the surrounding area felt the tremor.
