TAPACHULA, Chis. — A 6.4 magnitude quake occurred close to Puerto Madero on Friday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

A tremor rocked the area at 15:20 UTC (09:20 local time). The earthquake’s epicenter was roughly 96 km southwest of Puerto Madero and occurred at a depth of 10 km. Seismologists first reported it as a 6.0 event, but later upgraded it to 6.4.
