A 5.0 magnitude quake jolted close to Vilyuchinsk at midday on Wednesday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor struck the area at 02:42 UTC (13:42 local time). It occurred at a depth of 10 km with the epicenter approximately 185 km south-southeast of Vilyuchinsk. The magnitude was originally reported as 5.1 but later downgraded to 5.0.
