Update: 5.1 magnitude earthquake hits near Clam Gulch, AK on June 27

KENAI PENINSULA BOROUGH, AK — A preliminary 5.1 magnitude quake occurred near Clam Gulch on Saturday afternoon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor struck the area at 1:15 a.m. (5:15 p.m. local time). It occurred at a depth of 33 miles with the epicenter approximately 7 miles south-southeast of Clam Gulch.
