NEIAFU, Vava’u — A 5.4 magnitude quake occurred close to Neiafu at midday on Wednesday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor, which shook the area at 23:30 UTC (11:30 local time), was centered approximately 162 km east-southeast of Neiafu. It occurred at a depth of 10 km.
