ALEUTIANS EAST BOROUGH, AK — A 5.5 magnitude quake struck close to Akutan on Saturday night, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The tremor jolted at 8:05 a.m. (9:05 p.m. local time), with its epicenter approximately 56 miles southeast of Akutan and a depth of 20 miles. Seismologists first reported it as a 5.4 event, but later upgraded it to 5.5.
