NIUATOPUTAPU, Niuas — A 6.1 magnitude quake occurred near Hihifo on Sunday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

At 17:34 UTC (05:34 local time), a tremor slammed the region at a depth of 36 km, with its epicenter roughly 88 km north-northeast of Hihifo.
