ALEUTIANS WEST CENSUS AREA, AK — A 5.7 magnitude quake shook near Attu Station on Friday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

At 9:08 p.m. (9:08 a.m. local time), a tremor jolted the region at a depth of 7 miles, with its epicenter about 144 miles east-southeast of Attu Station. Seismologists first reported it as a 5.6 event, but later upgraded it to 5.7.
