Update: Seismic activity on March 11 – 5.0 magnitude earthquake near Hihifo, Tonga recorded

NIUATOPUTAPU, Niuas — A 5.0 magnitude quake occurred close to Hihifo on Wednesday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor, which struck the area at 15:10 UTC (03:10 local time), was centered approximately 92 km east-southeast of Hihifo. It occurred at a depth of 10 km.
