5.0 magnitude earthquake rattles close to Ōfunato, Japan on March 6

A 5.0 magnitude quake was recorded near Ōfunato Friday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

It was reported that a tremor struck the region at 20:31 UTC (05:31 local time). The epicenter was situated about 57 km east-southeast of Ōfunato, at a depth of 60 km.
