Update: Earthquake measuring 5.0 hits area near Shihezi, China on March 5

A 5.0 magnitude quake occurred close to Shihezi on Thursday morning, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The tremor struck the region at 00:15 UTC (06:15 local time). It occurred at a depth of 10 km with the epicenter approximately 73 km south-southeast of Shihezi.
