ALEUTIANS WEST CENSUS AREA, AK — A 5.0 magnitude quake occurred near Attu Station on Wednesday afternoon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

A tremor jolted the area at 4:36 a.m. (4:36 p.m. local time). The earthquake’s epicenter was approximately 145 miles east-southeast of Attu Station and occurred at a depth of 14 miles. The magnitude was originally reported as 5.2 but later downgraded to 5.0.
