Update: Earthquake measuring 6.0 rocks area close to Volcano Islands, Japan region on March 2

CHIISAGATA DISTRICT, Nagano — the U.S. Geological Survey reported a 6.0 magnitude quake hit near Volcano Islands on Monday around midday.

A tremor slammed the region at 03:55 UTC (13:55 local time). The earthquake’s epicenter was of Volcano Islands and occurred at a depth of 20 km. Seismologists first reported it as a 6.1 event, but later downgraded it to 6.0.
