SHWEBO, Sagaing Region — A 5.0 magnitude quake was recorded close to Shwebo Thursday evening, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

A tremor jolted the area at 13:18 UTC (19:48 local time). The earthquake’s epicenter was located roughly 33 km northeast of Shwebo and occurred at a depth of 10 km. Seismologists first reported it as a 4.9 event, but later upgraded it to 5.0.
