Tuesday morning, a 5.2 magnitude quake was recorded close to Sangay, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor shook the area at 17:05 UTC (01:05 local time). It occurred at a depth of 10 km with the epicenter located approximately 27 km west of Sangay. Seismologists first reported it as a 5.3 event, but later downgraded it to 5.2.

Weak to light shaking has been detected and several residents reported feeling the tremor in Buayan and the surrounding area according to the USGS DYFI report.
