CHIISAGATA DISTRICT, Nagano — A 5.0 magnitude quake was registered close to Bonin Islands Sunday afternoon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor, which jolted the area at 06:49 UTC (15:49 local time), was centered of Bonin Islands. It occurred at a depth of 490 km.
