Update: Earthquake hits region close to Panguna, Papua New Guinea on Dec. 30 – 5.1 magnitude reported

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 5.1 magnitude quake struck close to Panguna Tuesday night.

A tremor shook the area at 11:22 UTC (21:22 local time). The earthquake’s epicenter was situated about 87 km south-southwest of Panguna and occurred at a depth of 10 km.
