Update: Earthquake of 5.0 magnitude registered southeast of the Loyalty Islands on Dec. 31

LIFOU, Loyalty Islands Province — According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 5.0 magnitude quake jolted southeast of the Loyalty Islands on Wednesday around midnight.

The tremor hit at 13:51 UTC (00:51 local time), with its epicenter located southeast of the Loyalty Islands of southeast of the Loyalty Islands and a depth of 10 km.
