Update: Earthquake of 5.1 magnitude detected near Kuril’sk, Russia on Dec. 16

A 5.1 magnitude quake was reported close to Kuril’sk Tuesday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor struck at 23:34 UTC (09:34 local time), with its epicenter located about 160 km southeast of Kuril’sk and a depth of 35 km.
