It was reported that a tremor hit the area at 08:11 UTC (19:11 local time). The epicenter was situated roughly 184 km southeast of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, at a depth of 10 km. Seismologists first reported it as a 5.5 event, but later downgraded it to 5.3.
