NAITASIRI, Central Division — According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 5.6 magnitude quake occurred near the Fiji Islands at midnight on Friday.

The tremor jolted at 12:37 UTC (00:37 local time), with its epicenter located south of the Fiji Islands and a depth of 516 km.
