Update: Earthquake of 5.1 magnitude reported close to Severo-Kuril’sk, Russia on Nov. 16

SEVERO-KURILSKY DISTRICT, Sakhalin Oblast — A 5.1 magnitude quake was recorded near Severo-Kuril’sk Sunday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

A tremor jolted the area at 18:48 UTC (05:48 local time). The earthquake’s epicenter was situated roughly 213 km southeast of Severo-Kuril’sk and occurred at a depth of 10 km.
