Update: 5.2 magnitude earthquake hits close to Villa El Carmen, Nicaragua on Nov. 17

VILLA EL CARMEN, MN — A 5.2 magnitude quake was recorded near Villa El Carmen around midday Monday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

It was reported that a tremor jolted the region at 17:23 UTC (11:23 local time). The epicenter was located roughly 12 km north of Villa El Carmen, at a depth of 124 km. Seismologists first reported it as a 5.3 event, but later downgraded it to 5.2.
