Wednesday afternoon, a 5.3 magnitude quake was registered near Polémi, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

At 14:23 UTC (16:23 local time), the region was struck by a tremor. The earthquake jolted at a depth of 10 km, with its epicenter approximately 5 km northeast of Polémi.

Light to moderate shaking has been detected and people reported feeling the earthquake in several cities, including Nicosia, Lemesos and Pafos according to the USGS DYFI report.
