Update: Seismic activity on Nov. 4 – 5.0 magnitude earthquake near Kandrian, Papua New Guinea reported

KANDRIAN DISTRICT, West New Britain Province — A 5.0 magnitude quake was recorded near Kandrian Tuesday afternoon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor jolted the area at 05:13 UTC (15:13 local time). It occurred at a depth of 123 km with the epicenter situated about 85 km west-northwest of Kandrian. The magnitude was originally reported as 5.1 but later downgraded to 5.0.
