The U.S. Geological Survey reported that a 5.1 magnitude quake hit near West Chile Rise Sunday afternoon.

The tremor, which struck the area at 23:47 UTC (17:47 local time), was centered of West Chile Rise. It occurred at a depth of 10 km. The magnitude was originally reported as 5.2 but later downgraded to 5.1.
