NAITASIRI, Central Division — the U.S. Geological Survey reported that a 5.4 magnitude quake occurred near the Fiji Islands Friday morning.

The tremor shook at 17:56 UTC (05:56 local time), with its epicenter situated south of the Fiji Islands and a depth of 529 km.
