Update: 5.2 magnitude earthquake strikes close to La Tirana, Chile on Oct. 14

TAMARUGAL, Tarapacá — According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 5.2 magnitude quake hit close to La Tirana Tuesday afternoon.

It was reported that a tremor shook the region at 17:10 UTC (14:10 local time). The epicenter was situated approximately 74 km east of La Tirana, at a depth of 97 km.

According to the USGS DYFI report, weak to light shaking was registered and several residents in Iquique and the surrounding area reported experiencing the tremor.
