Update: Earthquake of 5.3 magnitude reported near Kokopo, Papua New Guinea on Oct. 14

A 5.3 magnitude quake was detected close to Kokopo Tuesday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

At 19:32 UTC (05:32 local time), the region was hit by a tremor. The earthquake jolted at a depth of 452 km, with its epicenter approximately 203 km east-northeast of Kokopo.
