A 5.8 magnitude quake was registered near Severo-Kuril’sk Saturday night, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The tremor, which hit the area at 12:25 UTC (22:25 local time), was centered approximately 59 km southeast of Severo-Kuril’sk. It occurred at a depth of 70 km.
