AMBUNTI-DREIKIKIER DISTRICT, East Sepik Province — on Wednesday around midnight, a 5.0 magnitude quake was registered close to Ambunti, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor jolted the area at 14:53 UTC (00:53 local time). It occurred at a depth of 118 km with the epicenter situated roughly 42 km west of Ambunti.
