Earthquake jolts area close to South Sandwich Islands region: 5.1 magnitude recorded on Sept. 24

A 5.1 magnitude quake was registered close to South Sandwich Islands region around midday Wednesday, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The tremor struck the region at 13:36 UTC (11:36 local time). It occurred at a depth of 76 km with the epicenter situated of South Sandwich Islands region.
