Update: Earthquake measuring 5.3 hits area close to Ulaangom, Mongolia on Aug. 28

NARANBULAG, Uvs — A 5.3 magnitude quake was detected near Ulaangom Thursday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor, which jolted the region at 02:22 UTC (09:22 local time), was centered roughly 43 km southeast of Ulaangom. It occurred at a depth of 10 km.
